Blip Website - Project Update Log
Date: 26 March 2026 Session: Continued from 25 March evening
Where we are
The landing page has a working HTML prototype (v2) that Christian is happy with as a foundation to ship. The visual direction has been settled: warm whites and creams with navy as an accent colour, not the dominant. Playfair Display for headlines, Inter for body text. The hero plays a background video with a navy gradient wash on the left for text readability.
The page structure is locked at four sections plus footer: Hero, What We Do (Three Pillars), Who We Are (Trust), The Close. This was a deliberate decision to stay lean.
What’s been built
blip-landing-prototype-v2.html is the current working file, containing:
- Hero with background video (v6-family-dinner-web.mp4), navy gradient overlay, rotating headline placeholder, scroll-down chevron with bounce animation
- Three Pillars section: Tech Support, Online Safety, AI Coaching as cards. “Find out more” links commented out until sub-pages exist
- Trust section with Christian’s actual headshot in a circular frame, team copy using “we” language, and all four testimonials displayed together (Howard 20yr, Paula 18yr, Stephen 24yr, Ian 20yr)
- Closing CTA section with positive framing (no stacked negatives)
- Navy footer with contact details
Key copy lines settled in v2:
- Hero: “When tech feels overwhelming, we make it simple.”
- Pillars heading: “Someone to handle the tech, so you don’t have to.”
- Pillars subline: “Three ways we help busy people take technology off their plate.”
- Trust heading: “We’ve been doing this for over 25 years. We still love it.” (amber on its own line)
- Close: “A relaxed, friendly chat about your tech and how we can make it easier. That’s all it takes to get started.”
What’s been decided
- Colour pivot: The navy-dominant palette from Google Stitch was rejected as too masculine and aggressive for the target audience. Warm whites and creams are the new foundation.
- Team language: Always “we”, never “I”. Christian is the named lead but Blip is a team (Carrie in London, possibly a third person this year).
- Testimonial display: No carousel. All four visible at once. The visual weight of “20, 18, 24, 20 years” together is the proof.
- CTA mechanism: Google Calendar appointment scheduling via Google Workspace. Christian is setting this up. Once the booking URL is ready, it wires into all “Book a free call” buttons.
- Ship soon: Christian decided to put the site up even though it’s not fully polished. “No one’s at my website anyway, so there’s no harm in putting it up.”
Video reel status
Seven keeper/hold vignettes produced in Kling AI:
| # | Name | Subject | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| v3 | Shop Owner | White woman, early 50s, boutique | Keeper |
| v4 | Late Night Worry | White man, mid-to-late 40s, sofa | Keeper |
| v5 | Curious Learner | Black man, 60s | Keeper (prior session) |
| v6 | Family Dinner | East Asian mother/daughter | Keeper (prior session) |
| v7 | Deep Breath | White woman, late 30s, auburn, cafe | Hold |
| v8 | Ambient Studio | White woman, early-to-mid 40s, ceramics | Keeper |
| v9 | Hillside Serenity | White man, late 60s, hillside | Hold (back to camera) |
All still have Kling watermarks and need re-export once finalised, then FFmpeg compression (H.264 CRF28 faststart).
What’s next
- CTA wiring - Christian to provide Google Calendar booking URL
- v3 prototype - Alternative copy approach using pain-point research, for comparison with v2
- Astro project initialisation - Move from HTML prototype to real build framework
- Hero headline rotation - JavaScript for cycling headlines paired with video clips
- Video finalisation - Re-export keepers without watermark, compress for web
- Hillside Serenity take 3 - Three-quarter profile so we see his face
- Sub-pages - Three Pillar detail pages (future, not blocking launch)
Open questions
- Final hero headline: is “When tech feels overwhelming, we make it simple” the one, or does the v3 copy comparison surface something better?
- Deep Breath vignette (v7): keep or reshoot?
- Video rotation strategy: weighted random confirmed, but headline/video pairing not yet built
- Domain: blipsupport.com is live, blip.ltd is owned. Which is primary?
